Taste of India
Day 1: Kathmandu or Paro to Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be picked up from the airport by our local partner operator OpenEyes. Our partner works hard to support and empower local women, which is why they work with ‘Women on Wheels’ in Delhi, an organization that trains and employs women drivers. Delhi is a city of contrasts that is now divided into two zones: Old Delhi, which gives you a glimpse of how Delhi used to be during the Mughal reign, and New Delhi, a typical metropolitan city and India’s political center that is active and buzzing 24/7.
Begin your visit touring the India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan (Residence of the President) and the Indian Parliament. Tour by vehicle or walk along Rajpat Avenue (the royal road) that connects the India Gate with the President's house. Experience a city walk through the narrow streets of Nizamuddin, the Sufi and sacred area in Delhi. The tour is guided by local youth who are trained to help you uncover the traditions, monuments, flavors, and history of this neighborhood which is a vibrant mix of old and new. Return to your hotel for the evening.
