BUSINESS FOR GOOD

We believe that the most enduring and meaningful impact we can make is through Business for Good. As a Certified B Corporation®, OneSeed has met the highest verified standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. We share the belief that:

  • We must be the change we seek in the world.

  • All business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.

  • Through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.

  • To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are dependent upon one another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

supplier selection

We are committed to the prioritization of underrepresented groups and the environment in order to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. To do so, we prioritize the following when selecting our suppliers:

Local Ownership - suppliers must be independently-owned businesses located within the community where the service is being rendered.

Environmental Impact - suppliers must meet or exceed industry standards and must submit to a review of energy and supply sourcing as well as net environmental impact of services rendered.

Ethical Practices - suppliers must follow all local laws and industry best practices with respect to ethical management. This specifically includes the prohibition of child labor or compulsory labor for all suppliers.

Underrepresented Ownership - suppliers owned by underrepresented populations are given priority during the supplier review process. This may include gender, race, regional origin, caste, or tribal affiliation.

environmental impact

Since day one, we have practiced Leave No Trace principles and incentivized local suppliers to use environmental best practices.

As we continue to grow, it’s important to look at our impact on a larger scale. Tourism accounts for 8% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. In order to address this climate crisis, we will offset all emissions from our business operations and expeditions to reach carbon neutrality beginning in 2020.

the oneseed fund

Since our very first expedition in 2011, 10 percent of all revenue has been invested in local entrepreneurs through our nonprofit microfinance partners. This investment ensures travel dollars stay in local economies to help expand and diversify the benefit from tourism where access to capital is difficult and non-tourism based businesses need support.

our workers

Our comprehensive healthcare plan, emphasis on women in leadership roles, and generous vacation for full-time staff support the people that make OneSeed great.

Our team of staff and guides receive professional development opportunities including Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications and English language courses. Additionally, 3.5% of revenue is dispersed through a profit-sharing program among all local guides.
