WHAT IS MICROFINANCE?
Microfinance is the practice of making standard financial services – savings, pensions, insurance, and investment capital – available to the poor.
Often, established banks do not have the capacity to scale down these services to those more in need of them, and women are often denied access to financial services due to a lack of collateral.
By creating financial services specifically for the poor, microfinance institutions (MFIs) can cater to the individual needs of those living in poverty.
OneSeed works with its partners to encourage the growth of small, women-led enterprises through a particular form of microfinance called microlending.
