Departure Dates


This expedition includes 15 days of trekking and 4 nights’ accommodation in the capital city of Kathmandu.

Day 1: We pick you up at the airport. Arrive in Kathmandu and check into our OneSeed partner lodge in the heart of the ancient city of Patan. Catch up on some much-needed sleep and venture out for some dinner on your own.

Inclusions: Private airport transfers; accommodations

Day 2: Spend the day exploring the Kathmandu Valley. Shake the jetlag with a visit to Swayambhunath, the “Monkey Temple”. Take in the views of the city from atop one of the most important Buddhist stupas in Nepal.

Inclusions: Breakfast (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water, juice, soft drinks); guided tour; welcome dinner (including vegetarian option); accommodations

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight takes about half an hour. From Lukla (2800m) walk to the village of Phakding (2610m). This section will be around 3-4 hours long. On the way pass by yaks as your trace the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. Upon arrival in Phakding, get your first taste of Himalayan life.

Inclusions: All meals (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water); park entrance fee, trekking permit, transfers, flight to Lukla, accommodations

Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3400m). This difficult trek takes around 5-6 hours, but you’ll struggle through it knowing you have a rest day in Namche. Arguably the hardest day of the expedition, you’ll be exhausted by the time you reach the village of Namche.

Day 5: Rest day in Namche. We spend a day in Namche for altitude acclimatization and rest before our next ascent. Spend your day hiking to Thami, or the surrounding foothills of Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 6: Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3860m). This segment includes the famous descent to the Dudh-Koshi River and the equally famous ascent along the rhododendron forests to Tengboche. Soak in views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Upon arrival in Tengboche, visit the local monastery and have a much deserved cup of tea. Plan on 4 hours of difficult walking this day.

Day 7: Trek from Tengboche to Dengboche (4300m). This descent takes approximately four hours as you take in the mountain views along the trail.

Day 8: Rest day in Dengboche. Spend the day hiking around nearby villages or resting on the teahouse terrace with Ama Dablam soaring directly overhead.

Day 9: Dengboche to Lobuche (4920m). A summer village nestled high in the Himalaya, Lobuche has become a major trekking stop along the trail to base camp. Expect about five hours of walking on this day.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5160m). This trek lasts about four hours. Follow the trail along the western side of the Khumbu Valley and the views of Mount Pumori — “Everest’s daughter” — will accompany you. After a brief descent, reach Gorak Shep.

Approximately 4 hours trekking

Day 11: Gorak Shep to Base camp (5200m). This final stretch of the trek is an arduous four hours. Walk along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to reach base camp. Your destination is a flat field between Kala Pattar and Mount Pumori. You’ve arrived.

Day 12: Gorak Shep to Pheriche (4600m). Begin your descent down the Khumbu Valley.

Approximately 5-7 hours trekking

Day 13: Pheriche to Khumjung (3790m). Khumjung is widely known as “the hidden valley” of the Khumbu and rests at the base of the sacred mountain Khumbilia.

Approximately 6-8 hours trekking

Inclusions: All meals (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water); accommodations

Day 14: Rest day in Khumjung. Khumjung is the largest village in Khumbu. It boasts inscripted stone walls and chortens (Buddhist stupas). Khumbu’s only secondary school, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, is also found in this village. Take a short hike up to the monastery to view the yeti “scalp” at the Khumjung monastery.

Day 15: Khumjung to Phakding (2610m).

Approximately 6 hours trekking

Inclusions: All meals (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water); accommodations

Day 16: Phakding to Lukla (2800m). Take this three hour hike at a leisurely pace while marveling at the scenery around you.

Approximately 3 hours trekking

Inclusions: All meals (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water); accommodations

Day 17: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu.

Inclusions: Breakfast (Choice of 2 options including vegetarian option, coffee, tea, water); transfers, flight from Lukla to Kathmandu; accommodations

Day 18: Join your fellow expedition members for a farewell dinner and plenty of toasting.

Day 19: International flights depart.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel 60 days or more prior to your scheduled departure for this adventure then you will be able to reschedule or be reimbursed the full cost of this adventure net the non-refundable deposit of $1000.00. If any cancellation is made less than 60 days prior to your scheduled departure for this adventure then you will lose the complete value of your experience.

Refund Policy

If your adventure must be canceled due to circumstances outside of your own (e.g. weather or size of party), we will work with you to reschedule for no extra fees. If rescheduling is not possible, you will be reimbursed the total amount of your purchase, net a 20% administrative fee.
