ABOUT ONESEED EXPEDITIONS

OneSeed Expeditions operates on the idea that travel can accomplish real and meaningful good.

Founded by a group of former teachers, researchers, and guides, OneSeed uses the power of exploration to fund creative solutions to poverty.

The OneSeed model is pretty simple: you take an amazing trip and a local entrepreneur gets the capital needed to grow their business.

THE ONESEED TEAM

Chris Baker
Chris has spent most of the last decade split between the US and Nepal. As a student at Yale University and the School for International Training (SIT), Chris conducted research in Kathmandu and throughout the Khumbu region surrounding Mt. Everest (he'll do anything to get into the mountains). As a Fellow with Kiva.org, Chris worked closely with local microfinance institutions to document the work of small-scale entrepreneurs. A graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and a former President of the Yale Mountaineering Club, Chris loves mountains, fly fishing, water buffalo momos and singing off-key in Nepali. Chris is really good at sleeping on planes and he never turns down daal bhat or empanadas.

Sergio Nunez
Born and raised in Punta Arenas, Patagonia, Sergio spent his childhood in nature; horseback riding in the pampas or fishing in the rivers of Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego. After beginning his early studies in England he had to re-learn Spanish when he returned to Chile, bringing with him a strong Yorkshire accent paired with a Patagonian mumble. After finishing high school Sergio decided to stop playing rugby and get into the mountains, spending his summers as a full time guide in Torres del Paine and the surrounding region. At university, Sergio was President of the University of Magallanes Mountaneering Club and studied Business with a postgraduate degree in Biodiversity of Patagonia. Sergio has worked as a manager for tourist agencies in Puerto Natales, an Operations & Logistics Manager of the Mountain Shelters of Torres del Paine and, before joining OneSeed Expeditions, Outdoor Specialist in Isla Navarino, guiding in the most southern trekking circuit of the world.
